Match Preview: Can the Rangers tame the Lions in the den?

Heart of Lions sit at home as they welcome Volta Rangers in a regional derby 

Kpando Sports Stadium becomes the center of attraction in the Division One league fixture involving the two top teams on the league table. 

In what is also the regional derby will see Heart of Lions welcoming their 'juniors' to Kpando.

Volta Rangers is gradually gaining the popularity in the Division one league. With their sternly performance exhibited so far and for them to cause havoc at the den, could only be determined by a matter of time.

Hearts of Lions.

Hearts of Lions quest to play again in the premier league is still on course. Believing that, their standard of play merit that of a premier league team, they will make no mistake to ensure that respect is earned by their followers from far and near. 

They have so far made the Kpando Sports Stadium a fortress and that has become a place many teams who visit fall flat.

The introduction of their new head coach, Salifu Fatawu Kiyoyo has given the Akpini lads the hope of representing Volta Region in the Ghana's premier league come next season. The experienced coach has guided the team to an unbeaten run without conceding. (W2,D1)

The battle to play against newly entrants Volta Rangers this afternoon becomes one they may hope to win ahead of Liberty clash next week. 

So far, Hearts of Lions have had a decent game and are tipped as favourites to qualify to the premier league at the end of the season.

The team will rely on the leadership of their skipper, Dickson Sakabutu and the likes of Samuel Aryeetey Okine, Mustapha Yakubu and others.

Volta Rangers.

Volta Rangers would hope for nothing but a win against Heart of Lions when they journey to Kpando this afternoon.

Out of three games played, the people's club sit second on the table with 7 points. Only a goal difference separate them from Heart of Lions on the table.

They beat Na God FC away from home in the match week two. This came after they defeat Akatsi All Stars at the Ho Sports Stadium before drawing 1-1 with Tema Youth in the game three. (W2,D1)

Alfred Nikoi Kotei Djane has been impressive with the team so far, as he is yet to lose a game having conceded twice.

Hafiz Rahman will lead his side to the den as they hope to trap the Lions in their own backyard. 

Ackah John is likely to start against Heart of Lions as coach Alfred Nikoi Kotei Djane will hope to vary his tactics to a 4-3-3 formation with Hafix Rahman pegged at the heart of midfield with the partnership of Safianu Usman. Goalie Sulemana Iddrisu will have to be his best to deny any goal from Heart of Lions.

The coach will hope to keep faith with his back line and is expected to drop Moses Amemasor to the bench.

Match begins at exactly 3pm at the Kpando Sports Stadium.
