Volta Rangers disposed Kickers to near Middle League final |
The Ho Sports Stadium yesterday, June 30 witnessed another scintillating end to end action game between Volta Rangers and Akatsi Kickers in the on going Volta Regional Div 2 middle league where Kickers were drowned by a lone goal.
The match brought the excitement it could after football loving fans in their thousands graced the stadium despite seeing a barren first half. Both teams gave an outstanding performance display with lots of creativity on the turf.
It was Volta Rangers who registered the only goal. Justice Akugre dummies his marker, Emmanuel Klutsey on the left flank to send in a sweet cross for on rushing Kingdom Addi to find a connection and in the process, beating goal keeper Fred Vordzorgbe who could do little with the ball.
It became a ding-dong affair as both teams tried to boss the midfield to create chances, but it was Volta Rangers whose superiority came to bare as Kickers could not contend the Rangers' unbreakable defense.
In reacting to the loss during a post match conference, head coach of Akatsi Kickers said, his sides were not prolific up front as compared to Volta Rangers who looked more organized in the game and their energy level higher than his side.
"We weren't sharp enough upfront but defensively we were ok. Somewhere along the line, we had interpositional play but they were more organized than us and the energy level were above us."
It was all joy at the Ho Sports Stadium after center referee Selorm Yao Bless brought the game to an end with Volta Rangers cruising to victory.
Final group games comes off today, Friday, July 1 in a penultimate action as Vora set up a clash with Agbogba FC to book a final berth in the on going division 2 middle league in Ho.
