The Volta chapter of the Ghana Boxing Authority cum the Boxing federation is set to launch an annual June 4 bout.
The bout is in honor of the late president, FLT LT. Jerry John Rawlings for his emmense contribution to the sport.
The chairman of the federation, Foster Enam Dagadu in an interview with 24hourssports.com noted that, it is just in order to launch the bout in the honour of the late former president. He said the former president has been instrumental in the growth of the sport in the region.
"The former president has been very supportive to the growth of boxing in Volta and Oti regions. We believe to have such a bout in his honour was something we want to do to appreciate him even after his death"

Enam also appealed to the general public to come in their numbers to support a worthy course as it will be an annual event.
"We are appealing to cooperate organization and individual's to come to our aid to make it a success and it's going to be annual event"
The launch of the bout is scheduled to take place at the Aborigine Beach Resort in Keta on 16th April, 2022.
The guest speaker for the launch of the June 4 bout is Professor Azumah Nelson.
