Ghana's number one, Annette Cruickshank beat her bitterest rival, Tracy Ampa in the finals of the Ghana Tennis Foundation/Tennis Federation of Ghana Ladies Challenge Series III.
The challenge which ended on Saturday 19th February at the Ho Tennis Court was a ranking tournament meant to rank the participants according to their total accumulation of points per game.
Tracy Ampa, a 14 year old and Ghana's number two beat her colleague Precious Nunana in the semi final to book a final berth with Annette Cruickshank.
Despite losing the first set 2-6 to Tracy, Annette came from behind to beat her opponent in the subsequent sets 6-4, 6-1 to be crowned champion of the GTF/TFG Ladies Challenge Series III.
In an interview with 24hourssports.com, Annette opened up on how difficult it was playing Tracy. Praising her opponent, she described her as a 'stubborn' player who is very good.
"It has never been easy anytime I meet Tracy. She's a stubborn player. This time, I came in all out to play my best although I had an injury."
"She doesn't give me breathing space, she's a good player"
Both players have met 5 times with Tracy Ampa recording 3 wins against Annette's two record winnings.
The next challenge series train stops at Sakumono in the Greater Accra Region.
