Sports across the globe has become scientific. The importance and interest sports carries is one that has seen many athletes in the world made good returns from.

The University of Health and Allied Sciences in partnership with the National Sports Authority has set a two-day Scientific workshop for sports administrators and coaches.

The workshop is aimed at delving into the performance of Ghana's recent participation in the Olympics games with the view of applying a scientific approach in terms of preparations for future multi- sports events.

Speaking on Swiss FM's Sports Classic on the Thursday edition hosted by Osei Foster, the UHAS Dean of Sports and Exercise Medicine, Professor Eric Ofori disclosed that, the school has over the years partnered the National Sports Authority and other Sporting Associations in helping them to develop its members in sports.

"Currently, UHAS is the only school in West Africa which is only dedicated to train and develop Sports Medicine. We've been working with the Sports Authority and other Sports Federations in helping them to develop the capacity of their members"

Ghana's record at Olympic tournaments has been on the low, many are of the opinion that, poor preparation and the lack of adopting a more Scientific approach to the games have resulted in the poor show, Prof Eric Ofori elaborating on the reason for the workshop noted that, UHAS as a school want to set the path by doing a post mortem on the Olympics games and with the aim of helping the country adopt the right measure of doing better in the future Olympics games.

"What we want to do as a school is to set the ball rolling, do a post-mortem on the Olympic games that we've had and with the aim of helping us to be able to put things right for subsequent Olympics games ahead."

The workshop, which will be held at the Cedi Auditorium at the UHAS main campus is expected to last for two days starting from the 4th to 5th November 2021.
