Home Stars' 1-0 victory over Sons of Thunder yesterday, has sent the Soccer Apostles to the Grand Finale of the ongoing Volta Regional Division 2 middle league.

The Ho Sports Stadium was filled to maximum capacity, as fans trooped in to witness one of the historic middle league games on Friday September 10, 2021.

Home Stars only goal, came in the 38' from the spot. Julius Okoh, who was fouled by Samuel Loglo in the penalty area as he tried connecting a curler from Ronald Numeyah from the left flank, picked up the ball and sent goalkeeper Awal the wrong way.

Sons of Thunder on few occasions rised to the occasion with insightful play, searching for an equalizer but on one occasion were wasteful and on another, the resilient Home Stars defense was up to the task, warding off danger from the Oti based team.

It became a ding dong affair for both teams as Home Stars ensured the 1-0 lead gets them into the Grand Finale on Sunday.

Earlier, Volta Rangers failed to breath life into the game as Akatsi All Stars' solo goal ended the dream of Rangers, qualifying to the Division 1 league.

Kwesi George Manegbe's goal for All Stars, sent south side to victory, after many failed attempts by Volta Rangers to equalize.

Akatsi All Stars, finishing and topping Group A with 6 points will play Ho based Home Stars who also finished top of Group B with 9 points on Sunday, September 12, 2021 in a play-off to decide who represent Volta Region in the National Division 1 league next season.

The match to be played at the Ho Sports Stadium is at 3pm.
