Kotoko to go back 'home' as Baba Yara Sports Stadium nears completion

Baba Yara Sports Stadium yet to be ready by end of March

The National Sports Authority boss, Prof Peter Twumasi in an interview with Happy FM has said, the Baba Yara Sports Stadium will be ready in March ending after major works has already been completed.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko has over the past years adopted Baba Yara Sports Stadium as their home grounds which saw most of their premier league games played. Early last year, the NSA through the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MoYS) decided to renovate the sports stadium which has never seen any uplift since 2007.

This made the Porcupine Warriors to adopt Accra Sports Stadium for their matches in the on going Ghana Premier League.

But reacting to the pleadings of Nana Yaw Amponsah on Happy FM for the NSA to speed up the works on the stadium which was monitored by 24hourssports.com, Prof Peter Twumasi disclosed that, the facility will be ready in March for use. He further explained that, the contract type was a year long, therefore, the contractor would have to finally hand over the edifice to the government of Ghana before any other action can be taken.

"We are hoping by the end of March, the job will be completed and handed over to the NSA"

"The contract was a one year contract and we are hoping by March ending, the contractor should be done"

The Director General of the National Sports Authority urged Kotoko to be patient as works are almost completed. He indicated that, the seats and the pitch are taken cared of which means by the end of March, all works will be done .

"We are pleading with Kotoko to be patient with us, the work will be completed soon, the seats have been rolled out and the major problem was the pitch and that has been worked on, we are only waiting for the grass to grow and get better."

After the completion, both Kotoko and King Faisal will move back to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium as their home grounds.
