The Porcupine Warriors triumph over the Scientific Soccer lads at the Accra Sports Stadium |
Kumasi Asante Kotoko gave fans their monies worth when they edged a 2-0 victory over Liberty Professionals at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday afternoon.
The home side prior to this duel were bundled out of the CAF Champions League following their inability to raise a side for their clash against Al-Hilal after some players tested positive for COVID-19.
With this in mind, the Porcupine Warriors were bruised and needed to make a major statement on the local scene.
The record holders of the Ghana Premier League started the contest on the bright note and it was no surprise that they got their two goals on the day before the 25th-minute, Liberty were a pale shadow of themselves, something that which troubled Coach David Ocloo.
The away side came into the second half strongly but try as they did, their efforts were nullified by a resilient Kotoko setup headed by Johnson Smith.
The Kumasi “Galaticos” will take this result in good faith heading into their contest away to WAFA whiles Liberty, who lost and occupy the 10 position with 10 points will try and fish three points at home against Ebusua Dwarfs on Sunday at the Carl Reindorff Park.
