Benard Mensah joins Besiktas on a season long loan |
Ghanaian midfielder Bernard Mensah has swerved Turkish giants Galatasaray for bitter rivals Besiktas from fellow Super Liga side Kayserispor.
The 25-year-old inked his signature to the dotted lines agreeing a season-long loan deal with an option of a permanent transfer following a successful medical with his new club at their facility on Monday.
The midfielder was inches away from agreeing to a deal to Turkish powerhouse, Galatasaray but rivals Besiktas moved rather swiftly to secure the signature of the talented gem for their side.
The Black Eagles have quickly moved to announce their new signing to its large fan base in the country via the official website.
“Bernard Mensah in Beşiktaş. Our club signed a contract with Bernard Mensah, the Ghanaian midfield player, which he transferred from Kayserispor, within the scope of the transfer activities for the new season, we welcome Bernard Mensah, who we believe will provide important services to our club, and wish him success.” website announced.
In a related development, Besiktas new prodigy couldn't hide his heartfelt emotions taking to Twitter to express it.
"Dear Kayserispor family ... I spent two wonderful years here with you. Now a very important adventure is starting for me. We had many good moments as well as our very good days. My president Berna [Gozbasi], who never refused to support me before leaving, I would like to thank you Gozbaşı, the great supporters of Kayserispor and all the club staff who did not hold back help from me. My heart will always be with you,”
The young lad is well travelled, starting out with Spanish side Atletico Madrid then Victoria Guimaraes, Kasimpasa, Kayserispor and now Besiktas for another loan spell.
Besiktas would be counting on their new star midfielder for goals and assists moving ahead in the new season.
