MTN to Opt out of FA Cup Sponsorship deal if the Competition is Truncated


MTN is the tittle sponsors of the FA Cup competition in Ghana 


The Ghana Football Association has received a threat from the Mobile Telecommunication Network (MTN), the lead sponsor of the FA Cup competition being run in the country amongst the Divisions and the Premier League teams.

According to Sky Power FM a local radio station based in Takoradi, the telecommunication giants has served a letter to the GFA with a condition of abrogating the sponsorship deal if the competition is cancelled.

MTN FA Cup since its return in 2010 has become a household game for both divison 1, 2 and as well as the premier league teams with a winner of the competition representing Ghana in the CAF  Confederations Cup.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Football Association president Mr. Kurt Okraku has disclosed GFA preparedness to resume the league after strenuous  effort to meet the government Advisory Committee on Covid-19 to see to a possible return of the Ghana Premier League.

The president's directive on social gathering is thus extended until July 31st, many believe it will be practically impossible for the Ghana premier league to return since it will be too late to resume the League.
