The Ghana Premier League since it's inception decades past has seen many players graced the competition. The names of several talented players remain tight on the lips of numerous supporters but for Hearts of Oak Ishmael Addo, remains one of their beloved sons to represent the side.
The once famed Hearts of Oak striker is still basking in the glory of scoring the most record goals in a single season in the Ghanaian topflight league.
In the 2001 calender season, the goal poacher found the back of the net 22 times earning him the golden boot as well as helping his club to clinch the treble that same year. It's been almost two decades since Addo cemented his name in the record books of which he still holds holds the record till this day.
In a recent interview with Accra based Television station TV3, the striker who sent shivers down the spines of his opponent couldn't hide his feeling of his unbroken record.
“It makes me feel special because the league was there before I was born and then there has been some records that were set before I came along. So having the opportunity to have a record of my own in the Ghana League, that’s something I will always be proud of,”
Addo went on to win multiple domestic and Continental trophies with Accra Hearts of Oak. He was a formidable member of the 64 batallion side under the late Sir Cecil Jones Attuquayefio.
The dependable striker went on to achieve more success with the Rainbow club, winning the CAF Champions League, Super Cup and multiple league titles.
