ASHGOLD PLAYERS REASONS WITH MANAGEMENT TO ACCEPT 20% PAY CUT DUE TO COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Players of Ashgold agreed to receiving 20% pay cut due to Covid-19 pandemic

The entire playing body and the technical team of the Obuasi based club have accepted to receive a 20% pay cut after a long absence of football league in the country.

The country's national league came to a halt after Ghana started recording high number of coronavirus cases. The directive from H.E Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo Addo banning all social gathering saw the abrupt suspension of the Ghanaian league.

This has therefore necessitated clubs' management to come to terms with their players to accept a pay cut due to financial crisis.

The playing and technical team of Ashgold yesterday, met with the club management. After the meeting, it was reported both players and the technical team have agreed to take a pay cut to cushion the management of financial situation in the club.

In an interview with the assistant coach of the club, Thomas Duah indicated that, the players and the technical team saw the need to be lenient with the management and the club president in this difficult time.

"We have accepted a 20% pay cut, I believe we have to be lenient and help the club president and the management in this difficult time." he said.
