After football returned to normalcy and the onward election to elect a new GFA president, Ghana football has over the time since the inception of the Ghana premier league, gained some level of facelift and recognition.
Kurt Okraku with the Executive Council decided to appoint coaches to man the various national teams, this of course has raised concerns and the debate was left on the tables of Ghanaian football loving fans to have their share whether it was in the right direction for the appointment of a local coach to take up the Black Stars job.
Much as many were of the view that it was in the right direction, others thought it was a wrong move by the GFA taking into consideration the performance by the former head coach, Kwasi Appiah.
Sportsbiggesthint.com in an interview with the assistant coach of the Black Stars, David Duncan had his thought over the issue, he revealed it was time Ghanaians believed in the local coaches.
" I think we need to be frank here, Ghana's four times of winning the Afcon was led by local coaches, they won the trophy and made a mark, that's why we are still talking about them, why can't any local coach repeat that again, I trust in the abilities of the local coaches and any one can help the Black Stars win the trophy again"
In about 30 minute interview, David Duncan was of the view that, the Ghana football we all want to see reach that high standard can only be achieved when we discard the negativity and embrace the positivity it brings.
" One thing I always say is this, if we stop the negative things and support Ghana football, we will be able to get there where we all want to be. Brazil, Germany, talk of other great nation's, did not started this way, they were positive and they were able to get there"
Touching on the Ghana premier league, the former coach of Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko was satisfied with the level of play by the various teams in the league, he stressed on the need to continue encouraging the boys to do better.
" The Ghana premier league is of age, from the results we get every week after match day is a clear indication that, we are gradually making a steady progress, all the boys need is enough encouragement and they will be good"
Kotoko lost to a division one side Asokwa Depotivo in the MTN FA cup round of 64, Duncan was not surprised about the result, he maintained that, Kotoko lost to a lowly side is because our football is changing with time.
"I'm not surprised at all, it's good for our football, that monopoly must be broken, Kotoko lost to Asokwa and next time, Asokwa Depotivo will be more motivated when in case they meet Hearts, I will gladly see that happening " he smiled.
