Kotoko triumphed over Legon Cities to claim top spot of the Ghana premier league in match day 2. |
The Ghana Premier League entered Match Day 2 as Legon Cities hosted Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium on a Friday night.
Legon Cities threw the first shot through Panayotis Papadopoulos just in the 10' of the 1st half.
A calm Kotoko kept pushing for a goal and had an equalizer in the 35' courtesy Augustine Okrah.
The game ended 1-1 at half time with Legon Cities hoping to increase the goal tally to 2 after the recess.
Kotoko had to wait till the 51' and 59' before registering the 2nd and 3rd goals through a brace from Emmanuel Gyamfi, sealing the victory for the Porcupine Warriors and forcing Legon Cities to pay at full cost for the party hosted at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Shatta Wale's presence could not help the Royals coming into the game to win in tonights encounter, but all attempt rather went futile as Kotoko stole the show to send Legon Cities sleeping early.
Kotoko's win means 6 points out of a possible two game played and are now league leaders. Maxwell Konadu will be a happy coach tonight after silencing a noisy side on a turf best known to the Porcupine Warriors.
Match Day 2 continues on Saturday and Sunday respectively, with Inter Allies welcoming Bechem United to the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday at 3pm.
