The Newly appointed Ghana Premier League Management Committee chairman Alhaji Lepowura MND Jawula has made known his intentions of ending match fixing in Ghana football under his chairmanship of the New Ghana premier league
He also Spoke on issues that prevents spectators from attending matches but rather opt to pay huge subscriptions to watch the EPL and other leagues across Europe.
As a traditional ruler of a Gonja traditional area and former director of Division One League side Real Tamale United, he understands the Ghanaian game very well and the challenges we have gone through over the years and his major focus will be to ensure that matches are played fairly.
“I will tell you straight away, that Ghanaians don’t like fix matches, they don’t enjoy it, that explains why they don’t watch their matches, but enjoy the EPL, so am going to do all I can to ensure that the results of the match is determined by the play of the day and not because of the whims and caprices of rich people hiding somewhere” Alhaji Jawula told Asempa FM’s Enoch Kwesi Wallanyo Wallas on the Sportnite show which was monitored by sportsbiggesthint.com
The Premier League Chairman also emphasized on the need to improve on the profile of players in the league, he understands paying players well within the league will help retain quality players in the league.
“The players are not being taken care of well, we should be able to ensure that they are given salaries that makes sense to motivate them to play well” Alhaji Jawula continued.
The league was earlier scheduled to kick off on the 21st December but has been shifted to 28th December .
