Awal Suleman, the famous pitch invader

The Cape Coast circuit court has fined Awal Suleman an amount of 2,400 Ghana Cedis for invading the pitch in an Afcon 2021 qualifiers campaign between Ghana and South Africa.

Awal whose main aim was to take a picture with the Ghanaian and Atletico Madrid enforcer, Thomas Partey ended up being chased on the pitch by the security personnel, got arrested  and sent to the Cape Coast police station to spend the night.

The court found Awal action as a threat to the players and referees on the pitch and hence charged him with two counts; disturbing public peace and resisting arrest.

This is the first time Ghana has recorded pitch invasion in its history. This act in football as a sport have seen fans invading pitches across Europe to take selfies with their idol football players.

Unconfirmed reports going rounds indicates that, the GFA bailed the pitch invader from the police station and will again assist the ex 400m runner to pay the fine ordered him by the court.
