BLACK STARS B FAILS TO QUALIFY FOR CHAN 2020 THE THIRD TIME

Black Stars B knocked out by Local Stallion of Burkina Faso after a goalless drawn game

Senior national team of Ghana, Black Stars B have failed to qualify for the CHAN Championship next year.

Maxwell Konadu and his boys were held to a pulsating goalless draw in Ouagadougou in Sunday's encounter. Black Stars B lost in the first leg at home by 1-0, a second leg in Burkina Faso saw both Local Stallion of Burkina Faso and Black Stars B in a goalless drawn game sending the home team through to the next round of the qualifier with a 1-0 aggregate.

This will be the third time in a row Black Stars B are failing to represent Ghana in the CAF organised tournament.

Head coach Maxwell Konadu in a post match conference attributed their elimination due to hard luck.

" Our elimination from the qualifiers was as a result of a hard luck. My boys played well, we came into the game in the second half, but just that, we could not score a goal. It's sad, but we will work out the mistakes and come back stronger."

Konadu guided the team to the WAFU  Zone B tournament in Senegal after losing out on penalties to the host nation in the final.

The 2020 African Nations Championship, known as the Total African Nations Championship (also referred to as CHAN 2020) will be the 6th edition of the African Nations Championship, a biennial football tournament organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) exclusively featuring players from the respective national championships. It will be hosted between January and February 2020 in Cameroon. Ethiopia were formerly awarded as host, but the EFF admitted it was not ready to host this competition.
